Since Mooney decided to make topic about our least davroite webcomics, I find it nessesary to balence the karma train. This can be a good oppurtunity to get any prasie or critque(justifiable or otherwise) off your chest.
I am the topic starter, so I believe that it is my turn first. I know that a few of you may already know about Girly, because of its explosion of popularity since 2007, but I cant help but talk about it all the same. It fits safe for work criteria, but does so on the boundaries of even such a broad term. There is no gore or cursing, but you have you transitions of characters frolicking through fields of flowers to imply sex. To top this of, the artist has made his mark in the internet porn industry which shows in the character designs of the women. The focus on sex and use of it for humor may actually justify this for many.
Going over the story is like recalling an automobile accident. Fortunately, this is a clown car accident, so you may laugh and cry simultaneously. It basically starts out as a GL story and sequel to Cutewendy. The humor from its precursor returns much in a much more refined manner. The selfa ware nature is replaced by increased surrealism, such as plagues of elephants, indestructable cat made of pure marshmellow, imitations of fist craniumed superheroes running for mayor and freaky Friday arc that doesnt make me want to shoot myself in the crotch to dull the pain. In all the comic seems to be more than the sum of it's parts and that is a trait that few webcomics have.
One of my favourite Webcomics is 'Slackers'. It's got brilliant writing and it's simple. It's a gaming comic in part but also has several obscure 80s references and just lunacy. I enjoy every strip they've done because of it's own breed of humour.
